NYCH Charter

NYCH supports the fundamental tenet that all people have access to human rights. Human Rights are about the basic dignity of people and are enshrined in the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Australia is a signatory to a number of human rights treaties, these are;

  • International covenant on civil and political rights
  • International covenant on economic, social and cultural rights
  • Convention on the rights of the child
  • Convention on the elimination of all form of racial discrimination
  • Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women
  • Convention against Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment

NYCH has developed a Charter of Rights for young people, which we are currently updating, to act as a foundation and a guide for all NYCH policy.

What do you think needs to occur to end youth homelessness?

Whilst many of our member services discuss the issues and challenges either directly with young people or the services that assist them - NYCH is always keen to hear directly from young people about our policy statements and submissions.

You can do this by either providing NYCH with direct feedback or by contacting your local State or Territory delegate.

NYCH Policy Positions

The National Youth Coalition for Housing believes that homelessness is a problem with a solution. This solution requires everyone in the community to contribute and for government to listen to young people and the services that support them.

NYCH Submissions

NYCH provides submissions on key social areas in relation to youth housing and homelessness.
